Starving Artist’s Colorful Paintings Speak Loudly!

Shameless SELFLESS promotion of a local artist and friend – Ron Throop, painter & hopeless romantic.

I recently attended a cozy gallery opening, one night only, in the artist’s home. This show was themed around his wife and includes a self published book of  his love letters to her, Leopold Courting Rose.

To say the least, I was very flattered to be invited and left motivated to step up my own game as an artist. His drive is astronomical!

His artwork is an expression of his life. Initially based off his youngest daughter’s drawings, he transforms them into paintings intertwined with hand lettered typography and random adult themes/current events.

Passively observation is unlikely with these paintings. They are very personal & emotionally/politically charged. Bright colors and suggestive words create a dichotomy that brings you back over and over again wondering if you missed some hidden meaning.

Visit him online for a much better presentation and in-depth understanding of his motivation.

Ron Throop was a line cook when he met his wife. And, of course, she was a waitress.
