Finishing… a tiny owl embroidery

I wrapped up my owl embroidery, quite literally. The super soft yarn adds a whimsical touch, almost like the down of newly hatched owlets!

Switched out the chest hair (french knots) for little Xs.

Last bit of embroidery, the scalloped edge.

Folded over the extra fabric to cover up the back. I'm not very good at making BOTH sides pretty.

The finished back....

The finished back….

And the finished front! It's already shipped off to its new home with the sweet newborn baby girl.

Note: My silk thread is pretty fragile. Some one mentioned it looked like filament thread. I like the luxurious shine to it, but at times it breaks or frays.

Another Note: I initially was going to wrap the thick yarn edging around the hoop with an oversized needle but I was afraid it would destroy the fabric. Instead I actually sewed the yarn in place by hand.
